Over 10+ years ago I attended the PA Womens Conference at the Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA. I had the pleasure to meet Ms. Nancy Giles, American actress and commentator, best known for her appearances in the series China Beach and on CBS News Sunday Morning. She told me, "Tamara start writing. Write so that you can cast yourself in your work so that you don't have to wait on anybody else to hire you." What she told me stayed in my subconscious and would come to the forefront when my husband and others would tell me the same. I didn't ignore them I just would suppress the idea. I didn't have a problem writing about what was on my mind, the challenge was trying to create characters and give them dialogue to move the story forward. Writers probably find this to be easy. In any case the gas fumes were there but this event ignited a new dimension of my artistic ability. Everything is in God's timing. #ArtistInTraining
A week ago I was asked to be a part of the KICK OFF FUND RAISER CELEBRATION for Holy Ghost Headquarters Revival and I said yes because it is my duty to support our community, and purpose to use my God-given gifts and talents to serve. The presentation was entitled "Will the True Church Stand Up!" given performances in singing, dancing, and acting. I initially thought that I was going to praise dance but to my surprise I was asked to do a skit that was in alignment with the title. I immediately panicked. I didn't have nothing written. I never wrote a script/skit before in my life. Anxiety arose because I had only a few days to write it, to ask artist to join me, and rehearse to make sure our work was presentable and pleasing to God and to touch man. It is written, Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” ~ Mark 9:23 I prayed and asked God to help me. The anxiety left and God help me compose the skit. When I look back over my life it amazes me how this is finally happening.
